What Sets BladeEdge Ventures Apart

by Chris Reaves

BladeEdge Ventures is a holding company for ice hockey teams and soon baseball teams as well, but what makes BladeEdge Ventures different from any other similar company? There are three primary areas where we stand above our competitors.

Our Goals & Priorities

The first thing that sets us apart from the crowd is our goals and priorities. While other companies are solely concerned with creating skilled athletes, we at BladeEdge are aiming higher and working for more. Our focus is developing players on and off the rink, sending out players that are well-rounded people as well as being great athletes. We are not satisfied with training players simply on the ice or the field, because we believe that athletic ability is not enough on its own. A truly great player is made of more.

Our Methods

In addition to having higher goals, we at BladeEdge also have better methods of reaching those goals. There are too many teams and companies in this industry that don’t mind playing with athletes’ emotions by promising them that they can make it when there is still serious work to be done. We do not exist to offer empty promises, we are here to deliver results. We do not offer advantages, benefits, or discounts to some players while denying them to others. This industry too often plays that game, and we will not take part in it. We are not for everyone. And if you are looking to get ahead by cutting corners or not doing the work, then BladeEdge Ventures is not the partner for you. But if you are intentional about where you want to go in life, then maybe we can collaborate.

Our Leadership

We are also different from the norm because of the way I have gotten started in this business. I have learned a lot in a very short period of time, and a big part of that has come from surrounding myself with people who have spent decades in various roles in this world, whether it be as a player, equipment trainer, coach, GM, president, or owner. The greatest resource I’ve found has been talking through my business model with players who have made it to the big show — the NHL. From these experts I have learned so much, and that wisdom, perspective, and strategy flows down throughout the whole company. This is part of what makes BladeEdge Ventures so unique.

Changes on the Horizon

But even with all the differences that already exist between us and our competition, there are more changes on the horizon! We are not satisfied with where we are, and our second year will be one of even more growth and development. There will be more news to come, but one of those changes will be incorporating several new key roles into that administration. We will soon have a VP of Hockey Operations, whose role will be to know the players abilities and help place them with teams within our organization. We will also add a VP of Player Development, who will be making sure the players are developing and are taken care of via Billet Families, etc. And we will have a VP of Marketing as well as a VP of Game Day Operations, who will be responsible to make sure every team has their in-game script, events, activities, sponsorships, games, etc. With these new key assets, BladeEdge Ventures will be on our way to even more improvement and impact on the game.
