SUCCESSFUL TRAINING CAMP SETS THE STAGE FOR FIRST SEASON
In our three-day main camp, we were blown away to see nearly 180 participants. And after countless hours of meticulous planning, we have been delighted to find that the event was a hit! The schedule was packed with events—fourteen games (including an All-Star game), skill tests, training and goalie sessions, fitness assessments, and one-on-one meetings. Our aim was to take a well-rounded approach to player development; based on the feedback, we feel confident that it has been a success.
It is very difficult to run a three-day event like this one. It requires careful organization to ensure that all of the moving parts can function together like one well-oiled machine. It is also necessary to have personnel who have sufficient adaptability to be able to manage the event, addressing any unexpected problems and taking into account the diverse personalities of both players and workers. Luckily, we have just such a team! The camp went off without a hitch, and players were able to enjoy the full array of opportunities to grow in their skill as hockey players. We want to specifically thank the following people for their involvement in making this camp a success: Kaleigh Schrock, Head Coach Fort Wayne Spacemen; Brad Gaylord, Head Coach Carolina Jr. Canes; Michael Shelley, Assistant Coach Potomac Patriots; Triston Jensen, Battle Creek Kernels; Sara Vasseur, Photographer; Jacob Burke, Assistant Coach HSE high school hockey; Christian Corbin; Gavin Cline; Eli Reaves; Megan Isenbarger; Ft Wayne Rink Operations.
The next essential step will be to begin refining the roster. In the final training camp, the top 40 players from main camp will participate in more training opportunities and assessments. From there, 26 players will be selected to play in the team’s very first season. We are very optimistic about the coming season. The quality of players at the main camp as well as our very capable staff make our future at Casper, Wyoming a very promising one. And with your continued help and support, we think that this season will be a good one!
