Game Recap, Nov 8 - Warbirds vs Grizzlies

by Eli Reaves

The Warbirds hit the road for game one in Rock Springs Wyoming. The Grizzlies would find the back of the net only six minutes into the game when Tyler Hansen would get his first of the year for Rock Springs. But after that, both teams would play shut down defense, and both goalies would keep it close. At the start of the second period, Casper would find themselves down a man, but newcomer Maxwell Rutkowski would tie the game for the Warbirds with a shorthanded goal! A few minutes later, Rock Springs would take the lead again when Will Burnevik would get his fourth of the season, giving the Grizzlies the advantage going into the third period. With about 7 minutes remaining in the game, Casper would once again tie the score, with Aidan Calhoun getting his first Jr Goal. Calhoun, who attended a Warbirds camp during the offseason, found himself making the roster out of training camp and now giving life back to the Warbirds. Tied 2-2 at the end of regulation, we would see overtime. And home team Rock Springs did not make the fans wait long, as it only took 13 seconds for Kaleb Pitman to play hero, giving Rock Springs their first win against Casper.
